Installing Kirby

Kirby does not require a database, which makes it very easy to install.

  1. Unzip the theme folder and copy all files to your server.
  2. Visit the URL for your website in the browser.

Note: Don't forget the hidden file .htaccess. Mac users can use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Cmd + Period to display hidden files. Windows users can visit how to display hidden files on Windows.

Installing the panel

To set up Kirby's admin interface go to yourdomain/panel. You will be guided to create your first account when you visit the panel for the first time.

Panel installation

Important: For security reasons, the panel installer can only be run on localhost by default. If you want to run the installer on a remote server, you need to set a config option in your config.php:

c::set('panel.install', true);

Please make sure to remove this line after you have created your first panel user.

For more information visit Installing the panel in Kirby docs.

Kirby license

The theme's folder includes Kirby CMS. You can try Kirby on your local machine or on a test server for free. But as soon as you want to use Kirby in production, you must purchase a license.
